Description

This course explores the latest trends and innovations in digital technology and examines their implications for digital transformation. It covers topics such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and the Internet of Things (IoT), highlighting their potential to drive innovation and disrupt traditional business models.
Through theoretical insights, practical examples from global initiatives, and hands-on exercises, learners will develop strategies to implement emerging technologies and navigate digital change effectively within their organizations. The course aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed to lead and contribute to digital transformation successfully.

With the generous support of the Global Gateway initiative of the European Union, selected applicants can participate free of charge. This includes accommodation, meals, and other organized activities for a comfortable and immersive learning experience. Participants or their organizations will be responsible for covering their travel expenses to Nairobi, Kenya and if necessary, visa application costs.

This course is designed for government officials and policymakers engaged in digital transformation efforts, as well as professionals in the private sector who want to gain a better understanding of emerging technologies and digital innovation.

Members of the above-mentioned target population are invited to apply for the training if they meet the following criteria:

  • Hold an undergraduate degree in a relevant field or have a minimum of three years of experience in the field of digital transformation if they do not hold a university degree.
  • Have a basic understanding of key emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and IoT.
  • Have an interest in exploring the potential applications of emerging technologies in various sectors towards effective digital transformation adoption. 
  • Possess a fluent level of English.
  • Complete the application questionnaire and attach an up-to-date CV, a recommendation letter from their employer, or a motivation letter.
  • Prior exposure to innovation processes or digital transformation initiatives is beneficial but not required.

Government officials and policymakers from developing countries, particularly women, are encouraged to apply. Selection will be conducted by the course organizers, who will consider the above entry requirements along with an analysis of the application questionnaire and the recommendation/motivation letter of each applicant.

Number of available places for the cohort:  30 slots.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: 

  • Explore the potential applications of emerging technologies in various sectors.
  • Outline the opportunities and challenges associated with adopting emerging technologies.
  • Harness emerging technologies to drive innovation and create value for organizations.
  • Promote digital transformation in their countries and communities.

This course will use hands-on labs, expert-led discussions, and innovation challenges to encourage participants to explore and experiment with emerging technologies.

Grading Scale:

  • End-of-Day Quizzes (3): 30%
  • End-of-Course Assignment: 70%

Certification Requirement:

Participants must achieve a total score of 70% or higher to earn the ITU certificate.
