Description

This course is designed to help educators better understand the risks related to Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (further - OCSEA), and how the educational environments can be used to prevent children from harm associated with OCSEA.

Professionals in the education sector, including educators, academic and non-academic staff, school leaders, mentors, coaches, trainers and social workers who provide various services for children. 

It will be beneficial to complete Child Online Protection for educators: social workers, academic and non-academic staff (introductory level course) before enrolling this course.  

After completing this course, the learners will: 

  • understand the role of educators in child online protection;  
  • be familiar with the 4C's classification of online risks;  
  • be able to identify different types of OCSEA and understand how they happen; 
  • know how to respond to the harmful online incidents and report them; 
  • be familiar with the resources for further advice and support. 

The course is delivered using Rise modules with interactive activities like quizzes, drag and drop exercises, flipcards, etc. It will include video clips and images selected from ITU Partners as well as interactive exercises focusing on nurturing learners' critical thinking and problem-solving skills when using the internet.  

A final quiz will have 10 questions. Total score higher than 70% is required to obtain the ITU digital badge.

Lesson 2 – The Role of Educators in Child Online Protection 

The importance of education in COP. Sex education and its’ implications for COP. Case study: Girls First.  

 

Lesson 3 - The 4Cs: Classifying Online Risk to Children 

Risks and harms. The 4Cs classification. Youth negotiating risks.  

 

Lesson 4 – Understanding Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (OCSEA) 

OCSEA definition. Terminology. Latest updates about statistics related to OCASEA. Understanding where it happens (layers of Web) and who is at risk.  

 

Lesson 5 – Types of OCSAE 

Sexting and digital consent. Self-generated content. Consequences. Online grooming. Five stages of online grooming. Child Sexual Abuse Material. Impacts and implications. Live streaming of child sexual abuse. How it happens. Sextortion.  

 

Lesson 6 –Responding, Reporting, and E-safe Schools 

Consequences of OCSEA. Responding to serious and severe incidents. Where to report. Additional resources.

Unless specified otherwise, all Â鶹ÉçÊÓƵ training courses are open to all interested professionals, irrespective of their race, ethnicity, age, gender, religion, economic status and other diverse backgrounds. We strongly encourage registrations from female participants, and participants from developing countries. This includes least developed countries, small island developing states and landlocked developing countries.
