As part of the project on capacity development to accelerate school connectivity under the umbrella of the Â鶹ÉçÊÓƵ and through the Giga Learning Hub, ITU will host a face to face training to introduce the methodology to measure gaps in ICT infrastructure and for connectivity business planning. It aims to improve the theoretical and practical skills of participants in collecting ICT infrastructure data, identifying underserved areas, applying GIS tools, and using connectivity models to test and compare selected connectivity scenarios.

This course focuses on Wireless Access Technologies to Internet Network including technical, business and regulatory aspects. It includes wireless and mobile evolutions including mobility approaches by IETF and 3GPP, 4G access technologies by 3GPP (LTE/LTE-Advanced), as well as Evolved Packet Core (EPC). The course also covers the main 5G technology accepted by the ITU umbrella IMT-2020, 5G New Radio (5G NR) and 5G Core, as well as WiFi access technologies from the IEEE.

The ICT infrastructure business planning training course offers regulators, policymakers, and stakeholders a practical approach for the accurate economic evaluation of broadband infrastructure installation and deployment plans. The expert guidance offered in this course is based on the ITU ICT infrastructure business planning toolkit - 5G networks, 2023 and aims at facilitating the development of credible and coherent business plans adaptable to a wide range of broadband infrastructure deployment projects.
